TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

9 Days Luxury Wildebeest Migration Safari lets you witness the Great Wildebeest Migration in Serengeti. Over 2 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pastures and safe calving grounds.

The biggest chance to see river crossings on the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari is around July and August when the wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya, or around September and October, when they cross the way around.

This safari is a private safari to provide you with an unforgettable experience, with the accommodation of your choice, from mid-range to luxury tented camps and lodges.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) – Lake Duluti Lodge

Meet and assist the driver guide upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. After a briefing, you will be escorted to your vehicle for the transfer to Lake Duluti Lodge, where you will relax and enjoy dinner before your wildlife safari begins in the morning.

Accommodation: Lake Duluti Lodge

Meal: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 2: Lake Duluti Lodge – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and prepare to go on a safari to Tarangire National Park. The park is 130 kilometers from the town of Arusha. This park is well-known for its large number of elephants. Not only elephants, but also giraffes, monkeys, zebras, and other animals, can be seen here. Lunch is served at the picnic area, and the game drive continues until late in the evening.

Accommodation: Tarangire Sopa Lodge

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Tarangire Sopa Lodge – Mto Wa Mbu Village

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Mto wa Mbu. Mto wa Mbu ward has three cultural tourist operations: Migombani, Losirwa, and Barabarani.

  • Rice and Banana Plantations

This tour lasts between 1 and 4 hours. View the creative farming practices of Mto wa Mbu locals and learn about the irrigation system to support local crops, including the 32 varieties of bananas. During this tour, you will learn about the preparation of the farm “Shamba,” weeding, and harvesting.

  • A local coffee plantation tour

You will go to a locally owned and operated coffee plantation to learn more about the process of getting coffee beans from the tree to your cup. Try your hand at grinding and roasting beans by hand, then reward yourself with some great, fresh coffee.

  • Masai Village or Boma

A visit to a Masai Boma is a unique experience. When you arrive in the village, excited children and adults greet you with song and dance; at times, one of the dancers will gracefully jump up and down. The jumps are several feet in the air! You will be welcome to participate in the dance as well. You will then be invited into one of the village huts (called Manyatta), which are made of cow dung and clay plastered over a stick framework.

This is quite practical because the Masai have cattle herds, and the dung is always plentiful and free. One of your hosts will offer you an insight into Masai life; some of them may not speak English, but our guides will translate for you and the elders so that you may share stories.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Oldeani Lodge

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge – Ngorongoro Crater

Check out of the lodge and head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area when you wake up in the morning. The crater is the exact expression. It is almost 20 kilometers wide and 600 meters deep. You may be able to see the full crater walls from the bottom if you’re lucky and it’s a clear day.

Lake Makat is a soda lake that you will explore today as you take a game drive on the crater floor. When visiting Ngorongoro Crater, you will encounter the famous Big Five: buffalos, black rhinoceroses, elephants, lions, and leopards, as well as many other wildlife. Cheetahs, zebras, hippos, serval cats, hyenas, and wildebeests are also found here.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5 & 6: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge – Central Serengeti National Park

Leaving the lodge after breakfast for a Serengeti National Park safari. Immense is an underestimate when it comes to Serengeti National Park’s size (12,000 sq mi). In addition to being Tanzania’s oldest national park, it has the world’s most complex ecosystem. The flora and fauna are nearly identical to what they were hundreds of years ago.

Serengeti National Park has a lot to offer and will keep you busy for a long time. Among the top sites to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, Seronera Valley is one of the best spots to see these enormous carnivores. Elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and many other animals can also be seen on any given day in the park.

Accommodation: Ole Serai Luxury Camp Moru Kopjes

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7: Central Serengeti (Seronera) – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)

Game drives in the Serengeti’s Northern Serengeti will take place en route to Kogatende after breakfast. Moreover, it is possible to see the herds near the Mara River. Meanwhile, intense crocodile hunting and fast-moving rivers make this river crossing extremely hazardous for the herds. Consequently, behold the epic battle between predator and prey, where life and death are on the line. In conclusion, they are breathtaking, impressive, and dramatic.

Accommodation: Mara Under Canvas

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 8: Full Day in Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)

After breakfast, check out of camp, then prepare for a full-day game drive around the Mara River. Witness the epic battle between predator and prey, where life and death are on the line. Furthermore, the views are spectacular, impressive, and dramatic, but crossing the river has a 50/50 chance of being successful or unsuccessful.

Accommodation:  Mara Under Canvas

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9: Kogatende Airstrip – Arusha Airport

After breakfast, check out of the camp, then prepare for the en-route game drives to Kogatende airstrip.
