Tanzania Safari Pack Lists

You’re planning your first safari to Tanzania and wondering what to pack and wear. Let’s be clear: You don’t have to dress entirely in khaki or spend a lot on a new safari outfit. The majority of the safari clothing you’ll require is most likely already in your closet. So don’t stress too much about what to wear on safari.

During the safari, we recommend bringing comfortable, casual wash-and-wear clothing. Please keep in mind that muted colors are generally recommended for game viewing; these natural colors help you blend in with the environment. Keep in mind that luggage space on smaller planes and safari vehicles is limited, so don’t overpack.

Tanzania Safari Clothing List

Each season has its own packing list, and since there is little to no rain in January and February, bring some jackets. Between March and May, heavy jackets, scarves, and safari boots are required due to heavy rainfall. And if you plan your Tanzania Safari Holidays between June and October, there will be a lot of humidity. As a result, we advise you to pack light. Because safari driving distances can be long, we recommend that you dress lightly and comfortably. Evenings can be very cold, so bring some warm clothing with you. The following are the most recommended pack lists:

Tanzania Safari Clothes

  • Sunglasses – are a good protective measure that also reduces glare during game drive
  • Wide-brimmed hat: This will protect your face and neck from the strong African sun.
  • T-shirts or shirts – This depends on how often you want to change during your trip
  • Long-sleeved shirts and pants: These protect you from the sun, insects, and any unexpected weather conditions.
  • Shorts
  • Long trousers
  • Underwear
  • Waterproof jacket: If you’re visiting during the wet season, you’ll want to stay dry.
  • Socks
  • Sleepwear
  • Sweater or fleece pullover to keep warm
  • Sturdy boots or sandals
  • Travel towel

NOTE: Packing toiletries is the same as it is for any other trip. Pack the necessities, such as soap, lotions, shampoo, wet wipes, and bug spray/insect repellent with DEET, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, and other necessities.
